Absurdity of Spam

mustclickspam

If you really have to follow a link in spam, if you just can’t help it, totally can’t control yourself, must do it, will die of stupidcuriosity if you don’t, SLAP YOUR HAND. Then, carefully move the cursor to the Delete button and annihilate the temptation.

Your computer will now have a slightly better chance of survival if the purpose of that linked page is to launch a hidden malware attack.

This post was inspired by a spam email from “Alaska Appellate Court” with a Japanese return address and a link to a page in a German gaming forum. I can hardly imagine a less likely mixture. Yet there must be people who will blindly bite on something this idiotic, or the crap would stop happening. Parasites can’t survive without a host.

Oh — how did I know where the link went? I copied it and pasted it into a text editor. Then I copied the part from “http” to “/com”, leaving out all the gibberish after, and pasted it into my browser. See, I’m curious. Just not curious enough to be a dead cat.

    Here we go again

Working over WordPress is simple, if you know a little CSS. I’ve done it enough times, set up sites with it, so why not use it myself, right? Yes, foax, that is the first drawing I made on my first very own computer, The Thang. It was spring, hence the tulip. MS Paint doesn’t get…

This is a song that I wrote during my early-90s burst of warped creativity. Some people have read things into it that annoyed me (one stupid bitch in particular whose name I have forgotten, whose soul is torn by the avenging spirits….). Needless to say, whatever you read into it has more to do with…

  • Dance of Life (poem)

Winging down in around the zoosphere we find a single being, intertwined invisibly in fleeting forms shadow-dancing with itself in separate mind seeking sometimes fearfully to know what lies behind its seeing. This is probably around 30 years old. I ran accross it for the umpteenth time while looking for…

No TV, no money, no car. However, I do have a computer, so once in a while I do get hold of something. Lately it’s been happening more…

    wottever

The front page excluded category plugin still isn’t working. I am still working, but entirely behind the scenes. Actually not so bad for me, but awkward for my employer. I’m not very talkative today; it all drains out on Twitter, I guess.

    Farting Out The Lights

http://rationalwiki.org/wiki/Apophenia “Apophenia is the experience of seeing meaningful patterns or connections in random or meaningless data. The term was coined by neurologist Klaus Conrad and defined as the ‘unmotivated seeing of connections.’” One evening, a good many years ago, I was exercising — just a sort of free-form dance — in the living room, with…
